Minister Amongi vows not to leave office.

The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Betty Amongi says Uganda needs science and ICT to spur national development with priority given to the girl child.

Amongi says Uganda is leading in the women empowerment and girl child support not to mention the professional and high profile women leaders serving in various government agencies and NGOs.

She however notes that the theme for the women’s day; Equal Opportunities in Education, Science and technology for innovation and gender equal future, challenges all Ugandans to emphasize investment in science and technology to drive the country into middle income.

She says payment of science teachers, investment in science and ICT laboratories is one of the priority areas government is investing in to support this pillar of growth and development.

On the issues of NSSF, Amongi maintained her position not to resign from her ministerial post as recommended by Hon. Mwine Mpaka’s Parliamentary Adhoc Committee on NSSF saying her role is to see that the Fund collects over Shs 250 billion from employers who are not remitting their commitment for the workers.
