“We can create wealth and jobs as we school” – ONC representative Mr. Kintu Moses tells IUIU – Kampala Campus Management Students

On Saturday 8/7/2023, the students of Islamic University in Uganda – Kampala Campus at Kibuli under the Faculty of Management launched their association which brings together hundreds of students to mobilize themselves into wealth and job creators.

IUIU is popularly recognized in the country for its high moral values that are based on Islamic teachings. The students under their association President HE Nangejje Abubakar launched an association and invited different stakeholders in the government and private sector.

Hajjat Hanulah the female warden at the campus represented the Dean of Students and appreciated the Management students for coming up with such a brilliant idea to address the challenges of poverty and joblessness facing the majority of the graduates in Uganda.

Hajjat Ndagire Salmah the Patron of the association informed the guests who blessed the occasion that management students are not only an asset to IUIU as a university the most disciplined but the institution is much proud of their innovativeness.

Dr. Kasozi Edirisa Sinaani the Deputy Director of – the Kampala Campus represented the IUIU Rector. In his remarks, he emphasized to students to think more about being job creators than seekers during their time as students. He asked them to work as a team and make use of the university administration to guide them on any concerns to prosper the association.

Dr. Sinaani applauded the management leadership for reaching out that far to invite the Office of the National Chairman Head SPA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo and Minister for Higher Education JC Muyingo to participate in such an occasion.

The association President Nangejje Abubakar thanked the guests for honoring their invitation as students of management and cited it as a great milestone achieved by his leadership.

Mr Kintu Moses who represented the Office of the National Chairman Manager Hajjat Namyalo delivered an apology to students for Hajjat not to have made it personally but because she values the IUIU institution and Bazzukulu, she delegated him to deliver the message. He said that Uganda is facing a problem of too many graduates with even master’s degrees but suffering from poverty.

Mr. Kintu emphasized that Hajjat Hadijah told him to ask the Bazzukulu to embrace wealth-creation projects like Poultry farming that can make early returns while they pursue their education. He added that HE Museveni wants all Bazzukulu to contribute towards the economy through value addition or raw material production to take advantage of the wide ripe market in East Africa, Africa, and globally. He further said that Jajja Tova-Ku-Main’s slogan is about socio-economic transformation and achieving the NRM manifesto 2021-2026. He advised the students to actively listen to H.E. Museveni’s call to Wealth Creation than waste time on cheap politics to be able to draw gain out of their youthful times by making access to Wealth Creation programs under the government.

About the package to the students, he informed them that Hajjat instructed him to ask them to write up a document about their demands and will soon organize a meeting with them after which to personally visit the University to engage with the Bazzukulu Ba Museveni on Wealth and Job Creation.

The Chief Guest the Minister of State Education Higher Education who was represented by the Commission Students Scholarships Mr Kyoziga Peter commended the students for achieving such success. He informed the students that the Minister encouraged them to always make use of his office and apply for opportunity scholarships, especially at the Master’s level.  

He thanked the Office of the National Chairman for reaching out to students because they are the main target to prepare for a strong and efficient Labor force. He appreciated the Management of President Nangejje Abubekar and his cabinet for coming up with such an innovative idea and promised to render any necessary support to enable it to achieve its objectives.
