Yesterday the Minister for Health Hon. Jane Ruth Acheng delivered the equipment to Atangwata H/C III in Atangwata parish, Ogor sub-county, Otuke district. The assorted items were purchased with support from Yogi Limited.
Atangwata health centre was elevated from level II to III in 2012 under the leadership of Hon Annet Nykecho who was succeeded by Hon. Akello Silvia. However, despite its elevation in status, it has been receiving funding for Health Center II for the last 12 years.
Hon. Abeja Suzan the current Woman Representative for Otuke district in the 11th parliament with support from the minister Jane Ruth Acheng managed to lobby for support through different partners and bought hospital tools and equipment worth Ugx 25 million from Yogi Limited a private company dealing in medical supplies.
Minister Acheng assured the residents that effective this financial year, the health centre will start receiving appropriate funding like other Health Centre 111s.
On the same occasion, Hon. Abeja Suzan Jolly launched the tractor that was given by President Museveni through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries to support the local community in commercial farming.
The community was also supported with chestnut and coffee seedlings and was encouraged to embrace commercial farming to increase household incomes and create jobs and wealth.
Hon. Abeja said that coffee is a new cash crop in the district and said she is committed to ensuring that the entire community benefits from it.
