In an effort aimed at efficiently monitoring government programs, the Office of the National Chairman Greater Mukono paid a visit to the Mengo Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub in Nazigo subcounty, Kayunga district.
The team was welcomed by the Hub Manager Ahmed Musoke Zinda. Zinda told the Coordinators that the Hub accommodates youth from 11 districts in Central Uganda who would like to be equipped entreprenial skills. The districts include; Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe, Buvuma, Nakasongola, Nakaseke, Luweero, Mpigi, Wakiso, Gomba and Butambala.
“Our biggest challenge is having districts like Wakiso and Mpigi that take long to send us youth to train, even when the intake begins,” Zinda told the Coordinators.
The Manager also took the team on a guided tour of the different study centres of Hub, that teach skills in tailoring, hairdressing, carpeting, welding, bakery and confectionery, and building and construction.
The youth were visibly busy when the team visited them, undertaking their respective intensive training courses which last for six months.
The vetting committees in all the 11 districts that select youths include, the CAO, RDC, Chairman LC5, Youth Council Chairman, Women Council Chairman, District Commercial Officer and the RDCs.
